On the afternoon of Monday, 19 May 2025, the Ambassador of Vietnam to Italy, Duong Hai Hung, was welcomed at Marsciano Town Hall by Mayor Michele Moretti, in the presence of representatives of the municipal administration, the Marsciano Carabinieri, the local police, and members of the Intra Association, including President Mauro De Angelis and Vice President Deanna Mannaioli. Accompanying the Ambassador were Nguyen Thu Ha and Nguyen Dang Hai Hung, officials from the Embassy, along with Maily Anna Maria Nguyen, the Embassy’s delegate for Umbria and President of the Italy-Vietnam Foundation.
The visit took place shortly after the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War (30 April 1975) and precisely on the day marking the 135th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh (19 May 1890). The meeting was organized as part of a project by the Intra Association—a group engaged in Umbria in the preservation and promotion of book heritage—which has restored the library of scholar and trade unionist Pino Tagliazucchi. This collection comprises five thousand volumes, many of which are dedicated to contemporary Vietnamese history and culture. It is a significant heritage that the association intends to promote in collaboration with institutions through study initiatives, meetings, and themed conferences.
On this occasion, Ambassador Duong Hai Hung donated several books and expressed his sincere thanks to the Intra Association for its valuable work in preserving and promoting the library, as well as to the Municipality of Marsciano for their warm welcome.
Expressions of gratitude were also shared by Mayor Michele Moretti, who remarked: “It is an honor to host the representative in Italy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, especially in the name of culture, which is a privileged means of encounter, exchange, and building connections between peoples. The initiative promoted by the Intra Association, supported by the Vietnamese Embassy, is a project of great value for strengthening cultural cooperation and fostering new institutional and economic relations at local and regional levels, complementing those already established nationally.”
The opportunity to enhance contacts and develop new projects was also emphasized by Intra President Mauro De Angelis and by the Ambassador himself, who recalled that, economically, Italy is now Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner among the European Union countries.
