The collaboration between the Italy-Vietnam Foundation ETS and Confagricoltura was formalized with the signing of a memorandum between the Confederation and the Italy-Vietnam Foundation, represented by its president, Maily Anna Maria Nguyen.
The agreement aims to promote and enhance high-quality Italian agri-food products in Vietnam, a rapidly growing market and a gateway to the broader Southeast Asian region.
Italian agri-food exports to Vietnam reached 90 million euros in 2024, compared to larger imports from Vietnam, mainly consisting of coffee, seafood products, rice, spices, and exotic fruits and vegetables.
Vietnam is the EU’s second-largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), after Singapore, with average annual trade in goods worth nearly 50 billion euros and services worth over 3.5 billion euros.
“Italy-Vietnam trade relations have a long history, starting in 1973 and culminating in the signing of the Strategic Partnership in 2013,” added Caponi. “Today, Hanoi is one of our main trading partners within ASEAN. Confagricoltura is committed to further strengthening these ties by promoting collaboration and the opening of new markets, especially in the agricultural and food sectors.”
