On 29 June 2026, at the headquarters of Sicindustria in Palermo, the President of Sicindustria Luigi Rizzolo and the President of the Italy-Vietnam Foundation, Cav. Maily Anna Maria Nguyen, signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening economic, industrial, technological and commercial cooperation between Sicily and Vietnam.
The signing concluded the meeting “Sicily – Vietnam: Connecting Regions and Building Connections”, organised by Sicindustria, partner of the Enterprise Europe Network, and dedicated to the opportunities for collaboration between the two territories in aeronautics, agri-food, renewable energy, the fishing industry, ICT, logistics and supply chain.
The proceedings, opened by Giorgio Cappello, Coordinator of Sicindustria’s Technical Group for Internationalisation and Investment Attraction, featured a round table on the opportunities for economic cooperation between Sicily and Vietnam with H.E. Nguyen Phuong Anh, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Italy, Duong Phuong Thao, Commercial Counsellor of Vietnam in Italy, and the President of the Foundation.
The Memorandum, valid for twenty-four months, sets out a general framework within which the Parties will assess initiatives of common interest: promoting mutual knowledge of the Sicilian and Vietnamese markets and supply chains, jointly organising meetings, conferences, workshops, missions, trade fairs and technical visits, exchanging know-how and best practices on innovation, sustainability and the circular economy, and identifying possible cooperation, technology-transfer and internationalisation projects, with particular attention to the blue economy, aeronautics, renewable energy and agri-food.
