Institutional visit of the Ambassador of Vietnam in Calabria

On June 20, the Vice President of the Calabria Region, Giusi Princi, representing President Occhiuto, welcomed the Ambassador of Vietnam to Italy, Duong Hai Hung, at the Cittadella, accompanied by a delegation that included Economic Advisor Dang Phuong Thi Thao and the President of the Italy-Vietnam Foundation, Maily Anna Maria Nguyen, who organized the Ambassador’s official visit to Calabria.

On this occasion, a ceramic vase, a reproduction of a glazed earthenware, Inlaid – Brown, crafted as an artisanal product, was donated to the Calabria Region with the support of the Italy-Vietnam Foundation. In 2015, the vase was displayed at the Expo Milano. The original vase, widely used during the 11th-14th centuries under the Ly – Tran dynasty, will be exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria alongside the Riace Bronzes.

This is the first donation of this type to a museum, and we are proud to display in the Calabrian museum a piece that honors an art tradition lasting nearly 10,000 years. This vase will surely attract the interest of Vietnamese tourists visiting Calabria. Through culture, knowledge and friendship between peoples are developed.

The visit included meetings with Enrico Ricci, Prefect of Catanzaro, Nicola Fiorita, Mayor of the regional capital, and Paolo Giovanni Grieco, Prefect of Valentia.

His Excellency Duong Hai Hung, Ambassador of Vietnam to Italy, at the invitation of Governor Francesco Petrolo, participated in the Rotary District Congress D2102 on June 21, 2024, in the presence of PDG Maurizio Mantovani, Representative of Rotary International.
