On 29 February 2024, a meeting took place in Rome at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy between the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, and the ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Italian Republic, Hai Hung Duong.
Also present was Maily Nguyen, delegate of the Vietnam Embassy for Emilia-Romagna and Umbria and president of the Italy-Vietnam Foundation.
The meeting strengthened and relaunched the consolidated relationship between Emilia-Romagna and Vietnam.
In 2013, the fortieth anniversary of the opening of diplomatic relations between Italy and Vietnam, Emilia-Romagna launched a new season of economic relations with Vietnam through the signing of various agreements to promote trade, investments, economic cooperation, technology transfer and collaboration in research and development activities, in particular with Binh Duong Province.
In November 2023, an agreement was signed between the Italy-Vietnam Foundation and Asia Institute, with the aim of contributing to deepening mutual knowledge between the two countries and at the same time developing common activities especially within civil society, with a view to of shared and sustainable growth. An indicated priority is the development of cooperation in the research sector and, more generally, of economic activities related to respect for the environment.
